About Neighborhood-Insights

Neighborhood-Insights is an independent map tool built to make neighborhood data easier to explore. You can draw your own area or browse official Census geographies to get a quick, map-first view of local demographic and housing patterns.

The goal is simple: make public data feel more usable for people who want context without digging through massive tables. It can be helpful when you are learning about a place, comparing areas, or starting research, but it is still a guide for exploration, not a replacement for official publications or professional advice.

Known Issues

  • Some very large Census area shapes may still load inconsistently in certain map views

Coming Soon

  • Analysis blogs exploring interesting neighborhood, housing, and demographic trends
  • 2025 ACS data after it is released by the Census Bureau
  • Continued improvements to map coverage and area results

Data Sources

Neighborhood-Insights uses public data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the American Community Survey (ACS). The site processes and aggregates those datasets to make them easier to browse on a map, but it is not an official government website.

In the Census Areas view, the map can switch between larger and smaller area types, like states, metro areas, counties, cities, and Census tracts, as you zoom in and out.

Because ACS data is survey-based and Neighborhood-Insights applies its own aggregation and geometry logic, results should be treated as estimates. They can differ from official published tables or other tools.
